There have been a lot of duplicate threads on BH in recent weeks, so I though I would explain the concept of Bumping a Thread. This should all be common knowledge, but apparently it isn't.
First off, never ever ever never make a duplicate thread of a recent topic. There are only two situations where it is appropriate to make a duplicate thread.
A) If you accidently lock your first thread
B) If you have let your first thread go inactive for over a month in which case bumping it would be considered a Necrobump which is also not a good thing to do.
########
To Bump a thread, simply click the button that says "Reply", write the word "Bump" in the Message Box and click Post. Your thread will be catapulted to the very top of the thread list - underneath any Pinned threads of course - and people will be able to reply to, and discuss your question. That is all you need to do if your thread isn't getting any attention, there is no reason to make a duplicate thread about the exact same thing.
########
When should you Bump a Thread? You should only Bump a Thread once it has fallen off of the front page of the Sub-Forum it is posted in. In BH that usually means you can Bump it about three times a day at Max as this is a rather slow Sub-Forum. If you post on OT or LMaD you can Bump to your heart's content because your Thread will fall off the front page in a matter of minutes if not seconds. But here, limit yourself to three times a day.
########
When shouldn't you Bump a Thread? You should not Bump your Thread if it is still visible on the front page. Even if it is in the very last spot. One should note that posting on other threads so that your threads which is near the bottom and not getting any attention falls of off the front page so that you can legitimately Bump IS perfectly fine.
Like I mention before, you should not Bump a Thread that has not been posted on in over a month. That is called Necrobumping, Bumping a dead topic. If your thread has stagnated for over a month then you should just make a new thread rather than Necrobumping your old one.
########
There, that is everything you should ever need to know about Bumping. Please, for the love of all that is Holy, stop making duplicate threads people. |

| It would appear not. There have been several duplicate threads recently. Often times the duplicates and the original where both on the front page at the same time. |

| Don't bump, it doesn't allow for people to help other people besides you. |

@morash,
Taking one out of twenty-six threads slots is hardly going to handicap people from seeing other threads. |
