There's no competition. |

| Those semi-browser things don't count. Chrome is best. Firefox is okay. IE is horrible. It's just bad. We don't use IE. Nobody should use IE. I don't care how much they've updated it. IE is bad. |

| Chrome isn't a search engine. It's a browser, and it's the best browser. Chrome. Chrome. Chrome. |

Firefox doesn't open several processes and hog memory like Chrome. |

"Chrome = Apple"
Chrome is made by Google, which is a competitor of Apple. I dunno what you are talking about. |

I really don't understand why there's such a trend around Google Chrome. Yes, it was the best browser when Google publicized it, and it remained the best browser for some months, but that was more than a year ago. It's been a long time since Google Chrome isn't the best browser anymore, but it seems people think it still is.
- Chrome's (or rather Webkit's) development tools are terrible compared to Firefox's and worse than Opera's. They'd be worse than Firebug as well if they didn't offer some features that Firebug doesn't. Firefox's development tools are one of the reasons why I use Firefox, since I do a lot of web development.
- Chrome lacks some features that are very useful to advanced users. As soon as features comes up, Opera wins everywhere, followed by Firefox, followed by Safari, followed by... Chrome. Chrome misses a lot of features that all browsers should have.
- Chrome lacks customization. On customization, Firefox wins, followed by Opera, followed by Chrome, followed by Safari.
- Chrome's interface is great. It's better than Opera's, which is better than Firefox's and Safari's. This may change as Firefox is working on a redesign of its interface. However, the only reason Chrome's interface is as simple as it is is because of the utter lack of little features that make web browsing easier. Look at Epiphany, GNOME's web browser: it has the most simple interface one could ever wish to have in a web browser, but that's because it lacks many features (though it's arguably also because of the GNOME developers' great understanding of interface design).
- Chrome uses way too much memory. It uses more memory than Opera, which uses more than Safari, which uses slightly more than Firefox.
Chrome isn't as great of a browser as people seem to think. It has some advantages and it is the second or third best browser (closer to third than to second; the second would be Opera) out of the popular browsers, but it is certainly not the best browser.
- Chrome has a nice extension framework, but it isn't very robust. On everything that regards extensions, Firefox wins. Many extensions originally for Firefox have been ported to Chrome, but the ports don't work as well as the original extensions for Firefox. Take Firebug, for example: the Chrome port is Firebug Lite, which is a lot less complete and isn't even developed anymore. Take AdBlock Plus, whose element removal on Firefox is a lot more elegant than it is on its Chrome port (or its equivalent, AdBlock). Take Stylish and Greasemonkey (which is ported as TamperMonkey), which while having a better interface on Chrome (in the case of TamperMonkey, not of Stylish), are slower and don't work as well.
I'd say that Mozilla Firefox is the best browser, followed by Opera, followed closely by Google Chrome (because of compliance to standards, which is slightly superior in Webkit than in Presto), followed by Safari. I didn't include Internet Explorer because since I didn't get to try its latest version, that would be unfair for it.
All of this will change soon with Opera Next (which uses Blink rather than Presto) becoming stable and Firefox's new interface redesign. Opera might get better than Firefox, and if not (which I think is more likely), which follow it closely. Google Chrome will eventually use Blink, but that'll take some time, and won't fix its memory problems, lack or features or many of its other problems, so Google Chrome will still stay behind, perhaps more than before because of the advance of Opera and Firefox. By this, I mean that Opera needs Blink more than Chrome does, and it will therefore get a smaller advance than Opera will from the switch to Blink. As for Firefox, while still equal to Chrome (and Webkit browsers, so Safari as well) in browser compliance, its interface redesign (as well as recent redesigns to some components) can help. Its development tools are still getting new features, and Gecko is still getting speed improvements (the old HTML parser was recently gotten rid of and replaced by a faster new one). I believe the order will stay the same, except Opera will be closer to Firefox and Chrome closer to Safari. |

I like Chrome the most, but I am fine with Firefox (If its installed already).
But I really hate IE. School computers use it and webpages just do not load in a reasonable time. |
