| I'm not trying to. I am asking a serious question. Maybe have a sophisticated and insightful conversation about it. |

Oh so suddenly normal people are hunting down criminals? Leave it to the law enforcement. It all works out. |

gun laws are supposed to work so if someone tries to acquire a gun by legal means for criminal activity it is harder
coupled with police funding, education, and social programs crime can go down
gun laws aren't the only thing that would be needed to actually fight gun crime |

Okay then I have a lot of opinions about gun laws so here we go.
Of course criminals won't follow laws, but it's not like it would do NOTHING. You know the guy who shot the kids at Newton? He wasn't a criminal, he just got the gun from his mom. |

Because Not everyone is a criminal, and government doesnt want entire population walking around with m16's. It would make it hard for cops to maintain law.

| Most civilians can't afford a M16, which is a full auto, government issued weapon and if you were to buy one you would have to pay for a NFA tax stamp, what you're thinking of is the semi auto variant, the AR-15, which doesn't stand for Assault Rifle, but Armalite, the company that developed it with Edward Stoner. |

The problem with gun laws is the AMAZING WONDERFUL GOVERNMENT is trying to ban them, and the masses flock to them. While all their shepherd is feeding them is bullcrap...
The leading argument for most pro gun law people is "guns kill people."
Plus, this GREAT WONDERFUL PRESIDENT is saying that gun laws were only made years ago when people were using muskets and bayonets... Around the revolution the citizens were usually better armed than the military...
On top of that people think gun laws will stop criminals, which is hilarious. They are criminals, they will find ways to get guns... Plus, they will find ways to kill...
On top of that cars kill more people than guns yearly, so lets ban cars. Oh, spoons feed me right, and food makes me obese, and surprise surprise, obesity kills more people yearly than gun violence... So lets ban spoons while we're at it...
It saddens me such stupid people that buy into this crap actually inhabit this world... I know I may have ranted a bit too much but this is one of those topics that set me off...

| @big I get what you're saying, but your argument takes it too far. Yeah, cars kill people, but getting rid of them isn't really an option. Getting rid of guns, though, is. Nobody needs a big ol gun that's purpose is to kill a lot of people. There is no argument for that. Okay, fine, some people want guns for self defense, and I get that, but you don't need a big gun for that. |
