Chapter One - A Recalling Stroll

"Fly and you'll be free."

Fahren Shinobu read this last line out of the book she was reading, 'A Song of Fesil'. It was an interesting book, cryptically depicting Fesil's history in a rather philosophical manner. She was never one for philosophy, so this was a start.

Fahren stood up from the seat she was sitting in and inhaled the cold air of the snow-buried mountains which the Fesillians called their home. Then she looked down. This chair was rather uncomfortable.

The capital of Fesil, Vellin, was a majestic city, based on top of a snowy mountain, that, surprisingly, never got weather too harsh. It was three hundred years of peace that lead the Fesillian architectural masterminds to build this. Three hundred years of peace and tranquility.

Then the Lythanians came back.

Fahren snorted. She did not want to remember that memory again. She slowly strolled through city streets and plazas, and even through the marketplace, for once. The city was bustling with technology. Everywhere, there was some form of technological beauty, whether a statue that changed shape from some form of robotic movement, fountains that lit up when they reached a certain point in altitude, or the houses themselves that shined in the golden morning sunlight and proceeded to have their roofs change their shiny colour from a faint gold to a faint sky blue. This was only a fraction of what Fesil had, and it was all because of the masterwork of the Fesillian Researchers, through three hundred years of exploring once they gained the ability to travel space.

She reached the destination she was looking for. "Well, it sure seems bloody bigger than last time. I wonder if he's been off duty lately?" she muttered. Then, she slowly opened the door to the house of Skyner Farun.

Author- And so the story begins. This is just something I've been dying to put out ever since I got the inspiration from it from many of my experiences. Thank you, my friends, for unintentionally motivating me to write this. This is only the first chapter, and I would be IMMENSELY pleased if all of you were to not post on this, but rather just PM me if you want to criticize, because I want to have readers able to read one chapter after the other without random posts inbetween. I understand if you fail to read this author's note and actually reply to this post, but hey. Nobody is perfect.

Chapter Two - A Review of Space

Once setting both feet and body inside of the house, Fahren slowly and quietly closed the door, because she did not want to disturb Skyner, nor did she want him to find out that she was here.

They hadn't talked in two years, after all.

Skyner's house wasn't much a house. Rather a mansion. If one were to go through the front entrance, they would suddenly be greeted with a rather dark lobby, illuminated by bright light blue markers on the walls and floor, also illuminated by a projection in the middle of the room which depicted the Fesillian Insignia, the Blue Phoenix with a shining longsword behind it. Although this one looked darker.

Behind this mysterious projection was a shining grand stairway, sky blue, as was the primary colour of Fesil. Fahren decided to walk up this stairway as if it was her own.

Once she reached the stairway, she took a left and strolled down the living quarters to her destination, the very end of the hallway, where she knew he would be at this hour.

The Observatory. This observatory was bigger than most, taller than most, and definitely more distinguishable than most, but this is not of importance. What was important was the man standing behind the doors that she was about to open, the man that she went through her childhood with. She opened the doors.

And then was met with a grab from behind.

An arm clasped around her throat and she felt a sidearm being nudged against her back, probably ready to fire. "H-hold it, Sky! It's just me! You know who!" she hoarsely whispered, due to the fact that an arm was suffocating her to near death. A lovely experience.

Then the grip suddenly loosened, and she was quickly spun around, only to be met with Skyner Farun holding a gun to her face. But that gun was quickly lowered as his own face changed from an expression of suspicion and wariness to one of surprise and shock.

"F...Fahren? By Fesillin, they thought you were dead..." he hesitantly said. "When you crashed, the search teams couldn't find you... I tried asking Skye, but she said she never saw you either. Where have you been these two years?" he babbled while pulling her into a friend's embrace.

"Be at ease, my friend. I have been undercover in the city. Yes, I know, right under your nose, but if the Lythanians were to learn that I had survived, they would siege the capital and kill all of us." she explained. Skyner was about to say something like the fact that she could've went to him for asylum, but he soon understood. Lythanian spies were everywhere, like insects in a jungle. All of this was happening too suddenly, he gathered. So he went up the observatory steps and gestured for her to follow. On the top floor was a breathtaking view of the city. You could see all of it from here, due to the fact that it was on the highest point, right next to the capitol. Skyner heard her quiet, but sharp intake of breath when she saw this. It was a golden morning, and the sea that touched the front of the mountains they were encased in shone like the gold in the mines of Ilerosa, or the minerals that Sentarian mercenary traders brought to Fesil. "I have been in two years of peace and solitude after you had gone missing. I was led to expand the house under the motivation of Skye. And right now, I'm pleased to share my work with you, friend."

After a long moment of staring, both of them said in unison, "It's been a bloody well long time, friend."

NOTE BY THE AUTHOR, ME, MYSELF

I think I was wrong to say "hey, don't post here!" SO I take my statement back.

You can reply, I don't care. Cheers.

And about this chapter,

eh, yes, it was a bit 'emotionialized', but I promise this will be one of the few times you will see major emotion going around. Fesillians are trained to keep their emotions under control, but this was an exception. Two years of not being able to find a friend that you cherised a lot can change you.

Hope you understand, so have a nice time reading.

Chapter 3 - A Predicament in Space

-Meanwhile, on the Fesillian front, Skye Farun, the twin sister to Skyner Farun, is in somewhat of a predicament.-

Skye Farun, one of the only three Vanarch Guardians, was found with no options. The fleet of fifty ships she had taken with her were surrounded. Seventeen had been destroyed already. What's more, she -had no idea who these people even were-...

Their colours were purple and red, and they seemingly bore an insignia which depicted two rivers squiggling up then meeting eachother in a flurry.

That wasn't the problem. The problem was how she was going to get out of this. It was fourty-three to one hundred, and even if she was in a dreadnought, she would not be able to spearhead her way out of this. Tactical Ship Analysis, or the TSA, had scanned these mysterious ships already. These life forms certainly were alien, but they seemed almost... reptilian, as if she couldn't quite put a finger on it. But that wasn't the problem. These ships seemed to use technology strikingly similar to Fesillian top-of-the-line. She couldn't just engage and win. The only thing to do now was to wait. Or so she thought...

The Chum Brothers came in, Fillia Adnillia(Fleet Admiral) Whikk Denn and Fillia Adnillia Jahoc Firiz both came running up to her, and suddenly started babbling out things. Instead of proceeding to try and decode their message, Skye opted for a slap to both of their faces.

"What in the name of Vellin do you two idiots want? Can't you see I'm thinking about how to get out here? Our warp engines aren't working!" She shouted at the two, which unnerved most of the room.

"Uh... uh... *wellma'amit'sjustthatithoughtthatwecoulduseournewlyinstalledblinkdrivestocatchthembysurprisea-*" Whikk Denn spoke before he was rewarded with yet another slap. But his idea was not a bad one, so Skye came into deep thought again before she made her decision. This maneuver would allow them the exit they needed or close the trap in on them for good.

"Right... well, I suppose we've got not too much to lose. Everyone prepare the Blink Drives, we're going to surprise them in the face!"

Chapter 4 - A Desperate Maneuver

The reptilian creatures thought that they were doing well in their first attack. So they sat down and relaxed, had a grub and did some things. Even the officers that were supposed to be manning the bridge were off-duty. It wasn't like these Fesillians could get out, anyways. The flagship had engaged an invisible forcefield outside the blockade that would incinerate and disintegrate any ship that even touched it.

So why had they detected ships powering up?

It took them a while before they realized that the Fesillians were going to try and break through, but by the time that they all got onto their stations, it was too late. The Fesillians disappeared, just like that. Poof. The reptilians were confused, some even shocked, but soon relaxed. Guessing that they had gone, they had harassed the Fesillians long enough. So the flagship shut down the forcefield, but did not order the fleet to move on. There was something strange, the captain of the flagship could feel it in his slimy reptilian gut.

Then, suddenly, fourty-three Fesillian ships appeared right in front of the section where the flagship was.

Everyone scrambled to their stations and started powering their weapons, but the Fesillians had long beaten them there first. Skye's dreadnought was already powering it's Tier Fourteen Charger. Before the flagship could react, well, it blew up. A lot of other ships blew up too, as they were caught by surprise. By this time the reptilian fleet had all powered up, and now Skye and her fleet were caught in a battle that was still, to their disadvantage. It was sixty-seven to fourty-three. Engineers would have to get their warp engines working, and quickly. The shields were holding, but not good enough. A hit to their engines with shields down could be the end of them. They would have to use their blink drives again.

The reptilians are absolutely furious when the Fesillians seemingly blinked out of their range. By that time, their warp engines had been repaired, and the Fesillians had run off, but not before leaving behind a present. It was a missile, seemingly heading for the fleet's current strongest ship; a battlecruiser. This missile was small, so it appeared to be of no problem. They were wrong.

The missile was a nuke.

Chapter 5 - A Face-Off with Faces

-Meanwhile, Skyner Farun has taken Fahren Shinobu to the Mistress for a 'reunion'.-

It was nearing two weeks since Fahren had 're-introduced' herself into society. They took it slow. First, a few friends. Then some more friends. And then those friends spread words to other friends, so on, so forth. Eventually, word reached the Mistress.

Now, the Mistress was perhaps a 'mother' to Fahren.

Well... she WAS Fahren's mother.

But they had their differences.

The Mistress' real name is Liirin Farya, whose surname was later changed to Shinobu when she married Vaanyr Shinobu. She was skeptical about House Shinobu. There were rumours that said the Shinobus were not of Fesillian origin, but a mix of Lythanian and Ilerisan, from when Lythania took over Ilerisa back in the days. No one really knows where House Shinobu originates.

But that's not important.

What's currently important right now is what Fahren was going to say to her mother. "Hello mother, it's me! Ha-ha, just a joke, good one, right? I've really been with the Lythanians this whole time and they let me go! Hugs?" or "Mother, I've been resurrected as a demon." She was very cynical about whether she would say that or not, but she didn't believe that *mother* would believe that she had really been undercover this whole time.

The Mistress was head of the Fesillian Intelligence & Stealth Department.

But, well, Skyner was with her, and she was sure he'd explained. Skyner might be an idiot sometimes, but he's good at defending people, physically and verbally.

It was a rather cold day, now that she thought of it. Colder than usual. It was snowing today, but it wasn't what you'd expect on a cold, perhaps secluded mountain. The majority of Vellin was water, and you don't see blizzards on water. That being said, you might as well say that Fesillin was on water, because it was based upon a giant island; not quite a continent, but it was an island. Surrounded on all four sides by water. Fesillin, in particular, was right next to the sea.

But that wasn't important.

Not right now, anyways, because they just reached mother's house. The walk had been not too long. Perhaps twenty, thirty minutes or so.

A knock on the door and a sudden gust of wind blew both them and the door open. Fahren and Skyner landed face-first on the "WELCOME!" mat where guests scraped their footwear. Fahren scoffed. Like Mother, Like Daughter, Skyner simply thought. He kept a straight face.

But, waiting for them, in the middle of the lobby, was the Mistress, armed with the Shinobus' most prized possession: The Sword of Revealers.

Chapter 6 - The Sword of Revealers reveals a Face

The Sword of Revealers. An interesting sword.

It was extremely long, around a meter in blade length alone. It was made with the finest Fesillian metal that could be mined from the Halgallen mines. The crosspiece was crescent-shaped, a symbol of House Shinobu's past. The hilt, made from the finest mix of a small carved piece of 'Glin' wood wrapped with carefully detailed animal leather, aged for comfort on the grip should one be holding it with bare hands.

But that's not important.

It is sometimes considered a crime to draw a blade on anyone in Fesil, if the action has not yet been justified.

Then the Mistress slid it back into it's perfectly fit scabbard.

And smiled.

A smile filled with ages of grief, loneliness, determination.

Skyner kept back, but Fahren walked up to her mother and pulled them together into a long, sad embrace. Everything was quiet, but in Fesil, silence is a sign of acknowledgement.
