Simply a story idea. I may make one once a week depending on the feedback, which is definitely welcomed.
The war had begun soon after Emperor Tober had officially made the declaration, as a means of obtaining a stronger political position with his allies as well as the general public. The plan was quite simple; wage a war of attrition, wait until the Vaktovians cannot stand the strain of constant attacks and on there economy, and use the allied forces to make a direct assault on the Capitol. However, the results were far more catastrophic than originally thought.
The first invasion was to take place on the planet Karnastria, a remote outpost used for collecting information on enemy aircraft movements by detecting large heat emissions from the thrusters of ships. When a huge spike of heat suddenly came from a previously empty area, a scout ship would be sent to investigate and report it's findings. This information would be then sent to a fleet on the surface of the ship, and would be then be dispatched to deal with enemy forces. With this planet out of the way, Imperial Forces would have no trouble using gureilla tactics and raids against Vaktovian outposts and forts, as they would need to given the immense size of the Empire.
The next stage was to launch three attacks on the planets Vaxarin, Gardor, and Kleman which were located in the same galaxy. Vaxarin was responsible for transporting large amounts of industrial supplies used to create Vaktovian machines of war to other factories to be processed. Gardor was responsible for mining such supplies, such as uranium and many metals, including Vaktanium, which is an enchanced form of titanium discovered on the planet Earth long ago when the human race was conquered and enslaved. Kleman is a natural fortress where many Vaktovian weapons and ships are located, however Imperial spies discovered that the planet was full of highly toxic chemicals emitted from swamps dotted all over the planet. This gas could be bombarded with electrons to ionize the gas, causing it to become a corrosive and highly flammable liquid, which would ultimately destroy all biomatter on the planet, while keeping the Vaktovian Armory safe for use by the Imperium.
With these objectives out of the way, the galaxy would soon fall to Imperial forces due to a lack of supplies. With the Imperium in control of much of the economy, it would fuel it and it's allies. However, they never got to Gardor.
Before a sufficient number of aircraft reached the atmosphere of Vaxarin, the Imperial ships began dropping like flies. The enormous ships suddenly shut down entirely, causing them to rapidly plummit and crash into the crust of the planet. Much of the ships were instantly destroyed, however some Imperial soldiers had evacuated the ships before they crashed. These soldiers would be known as the "1 thousand champions" for there great bravery in the Battle of Vaxarin.
When the survivors had landed, they were immediatly were met with heavy laser fire from Vaktovian Kaiser Grade fighter ships. Much the them were vaporized, however some had retreated to nearby caves and quagmires to avoid detection. In response, the Vaktovians sent many partols out to eliminate any remaining soldiers. And so began the bloody battle.
Captain Alexander Argor had collected the remnants of the now destroyed fleet into a central cave system, which he organized as a means of fighting to the end. "We will not surrender our lives, but we will give them for the price of a hundred Vaktovians!" he said. So, the Captain sent small groups of soldiers to ambush Vaktovians. Constant raids and use of traps had eliminated many Vaktovian troops, and they had even taken out an enite fort. The Vaktovians became frustrated with their inability to catch their enemies, and decided to call in a Cruiser to fire extremely hot lasers inside of the caves to remove both the cave and the Imperial soldiers. Little did they know however, the Imperials had managed to contact a fleet of their own after they captured a Communications Center east of the Cornealis district of Vaxarin.
The Imperial fleet arrived quickly to rescue the survivors, but the Cruiser arrived as well. An enormous battle ensued. The Cruiser fired many Hunter Missles that targeted the engines of the small Imperial ships causing them to instantly be engulfed in a huge ball of fire. However, by a stroke of luck, a laser had skimmed the frame holding the Command and Control Center to the ship, which prompty flew off the ship into the atmosphere of Vaxarin. The Cruiser could no longer function, and was swiftly blown to pieces by precision laser fire, targetting other critical and explosive parts of the ship.
The remaining fleet went down to the planet and rescued the original survivors, who had much to tell after their success. They had over-heard that a traitor was among the High Ranks of the Imperium, who sold information to the Empire of the coming invasion. The ships had shut down because an EMP device had been planted on one of the ships, which caused the entire fleet to fail.
When the survivors returned to the homeplanet of the Imperium, they were met with huge applauds, happy wives, and ecstatic children. However, it was a solemn day indeed, for much mourning came from the wives and children who did not see the return of the many who had died.
The traitor was quickly executed, and his treason was not forgotten. The day was personally named a memorial day by Emperor Tober, and gave the remaining members of the fleet there luxurious accomadations for the rest of their lives.
And so ends the beginning of the war. Now, far more destruction awaits as the war continues...
