| How did you guys like it? I personally thought it was a fairly decent movie adaption of Stephen King's stroke of genius. |

| It really put the tingles on my spine with the tension, but the ending made me distraught, as I was not sure whether I should roll on the floor laughing, or indeed crying. |

It stands as one of the best movie adaptations IMO.
The ending was brilliant, I honestly couldn't believe my eyes when I realized they topped Stephen King in terms of writing-- it was dark, man. Real dark. |

| The ending crushed me. Pure genius. The more I think about it, the more I realize how great the movie was. |

"The ending sucked, but I liked the movie."
The ending was the best part about the movie.
I also liked how the religious people all survived even though throughout the film I was convinced they were practically insane.
NOT TO DISS RELIGIOUS PEOPLE,
I'M JUST SAYING THAT PARTICULAR GROUP OF PEOPLE WEREN'T RIGHT. |

I just felt the ending wasted a great and intense two hours. But it's just my opinion.

Haven't read the book itself, but I think that ending was better.
The movie was a bit dumb with it's ending because yes it's depressing and dark and makes you want to give your heart out to the guy that's still alive.
Buuut,
the book sounded so much cooler with it's ending. You're in a car, driving through the mist and you have no idea what's out there. What happened to the world. What you're going to find and if you'll ever get out of the mist.
And then to see a gigantic creature outside your window would just be the most terrifying shot ever because that's when you realize man will no longer exist. It's time for a new Lovecraftian world.
I just thought the film ending was dumb because the military somehow killed all of these monsters in a very short time and everything goes back to normal immediately after the guy kills his family. |

@Leslie;
Dude, I couldn't agree with you more. People always go on about the film ending being so "dark" and amazing and stuff, but if people would look past how dark it is, they'd see it's extremely implausible and flawed. It doesn't make much sense, and it doesn't carry as much weight as one might think.
I haven't read the book, but I did read the end of the book (for comparison), and I think the book's ending is by far better. I like the mystery of what's going to happen to humanity, I like how we don't really know what's going to happen to the characters, etc. It's far more intriguing. |

Implausible? The novella / film is about a mist that contains gigantic extraterrestrial abominations from another universe. I mean plausibility is thrown out of the window as soon as the story starts.
The ending made perfect sense-- the car broke down, they're trapped in the fog, with no means of escape-- He kills the woman, the older people, and his child to spare them a more painful death. It fit within the tone of the movie. |

The implausibility comes with the thought that the military could somehow manage to kill off the creatures within such a short amount of time. And the convenience that they just happen to show up right after he's killed everyone with him made me roll my eyes. I think the military should've shown up later, giving him more time to grieve over his own mistake.
I don't think the so-called dark ending fit with the tone of the movie. The book's ending was, by far, more fitting. The thought of the unknown is more creepy and fitting than a guy just killing everyone and finding out that everything's over. |

It comes down to personal preference really. Do you like twist endings that come out of nowhere and leave you shocked?
Or do you prefer an ambiguous ending that doesn't really tie up everything that has happened, allowing you to question what happens next.
Personally, in the context of this movie and my personal preference I prefer the first one. |

| I've only read the book. It was my first Steven King book and probably my first advanced book I guess ( At the time ). I read it in the 2nd grade. But I still haven't seen the film. I know it has Melissa Mcbride, Jeff DeMunn and Laurie Holden ( Walking Dead ) so I'm pretty interested. |
