| I just use HTTPS everywhere. In the case of PRISM, it doesn't matter if you use Tor/VPN or not since you are still giving the 3rd party the same data, just from a different endpoint, and with a VPN they could trace it back with XKeyscore. |

@Render
Tor does work in the case of PRISM. |

| It's stupid. Like really, why do you need privacy. Using the internet, means everything you do can be traced.. |

Everyone who uses a web browser should install HTTPS Everywhere on it. It's the best thing you can do as an user. As a web developer, the best thing you can do is make your website support TLS, and thus make users able to use HTTPS on it. As neither an user or a web developer, the best thing you can do is to encourage users to use HTTPS Everywhere and developers to support HTTPS.
HTTPS is the solution to a lot of problems. The remaining problems could be solved by making websites completely decentralized. The internet is itself already decentralized, and that is its biggest strength; that is why the internet can resist against projects like PRISM. However, websites and certificate authorities cannot, because they aren't decentralized. Companies have their own servers and that's why their websites can be compromised. If we created a system that would allow websites to be hosted in a peer-to-peer fashion (we're doing it for mail (BitMessage, RetroShare), search engines (YaCy), files (BitTorrent) and even for money (Bitcoin), so why not for websites?), then websites would become impossible to compromise and censorship would stop to exist on the internet, completely.
I mean, if Google becomes served from computers all around the world, how it China going to censor its results? How is the NSA going to intercept search data from it?
Cryptography is the solution to all data confidentiality problems, because confidentiality is the whole point of currency. What about we start using tools for what they were made for? |

| To me, privacy is just something that insecure people want to avoid being judged. I may be wrong, or I may be closed-minded, but I want to hear what you guys have to say, so that I don't develop ideals that are plain insane. |

I'm not saying I disagree with what you're saying, but someone who I presented the issue to gave a very good argument:
If you say you've got nothing to hide, go to Google Dashboard and get your search history. Go to YouTube and get your video history. Go to PayPal or whatever bank you use and get your transaction history. Go to your doctor and ask for a copy of your medical history. Take everything you wouldn't share with a stranger. Put in all in a single pastebin and send it to everyone you know.
Take every photo on your computer and upload them to a photo sharing service, then share the link with everyone.
Do you feel violated yet? If so, this is why you need privacy.

| @Tech I meant "Nothing to hide" as in, I have no reason to use a Proxy/whatever. |

It is wrong for someone/a group to have the kind of power to know everything about you. Just because you have nothing to hide doesn't mean that others should have the right to view it at their leisure.
If you have nothing to hide, how would you like the government putting a camera in every room of your house?
Or, a more realistic example:
How would you like the administration of your school reading a note you wrote to a certain someone?
It's not right, and it shouldn't be allowed. |

I don't use anything.
I will gladly trade my browsing information for free usage of various internet services. |

| I only use Disconnect and AdBlock. I don't enjoy being tracked by people. But privacy has it's reasons. I sometimes use Tor to bypass my school's blacklist, though. |

| I rarely give out my IP any more as a case of being DDoSed (I blame AbsoluteLOL for that) because my dad has a short temper and can quickly get quite... stressed. |

You really know that Incogneto only stops your history from being seen?
It probably opens even more ways for Google to track you. |
