I've been working on this tool on and off for the past 6 months, or so. It's risen and died numerous times. I'm at a point in the tool where I would WANT to use it instead of my old build tool or CmdUtl, so I figure other people might feel the same way.
It is a new tool to learn and as such has its challenges, but it has some nice features.
Here's the link to it. http://www.roblox.com/Build-v4-item?id=124463156
Here are the shortcuts you'll NEED to remember (there are no gui buttons to replace them): Select multiple parts: shift Select locked parts: ctrl
Here are the shortcuts you'll want to remember (because they speed things up): apply: v clone: shift + c delete: shift + x undo: shift + z redo: shift + r group: shift + g ungroup: shift + u move mode: z resize mode: x rotate mode: c
Here are some features which make this tool awesome: Free camera mode for online building (use the same camera that studio uses). Auto Builder: use scripts to create random trees, grass, etc. These are the only things I have coded in. I hope scripters become interested in this project and want to help out by making new randomly generated stuff. Terrain Tool: makes terrain out of rotated squares. Triangle Tool: connects three nodes with wedge parts. Mirror Tool: creates a mirror image of a bunch of parts. Better mesh management: if you resize a part with a file mesh in it, the mesh will resize with the part. Completely custom resize/move/rotate increments. When you're in one of the three tools, type your desired increments into the three text boxes on the left, and press the '~' button in the top right corner of the tool. A value of 0 means that there will be no snap (free move, if you will).
I have even more tools planned, but I need to find the drive to do them. In the future, Build v4 will have: - OPTIONS (because it's currently REALLY lacking without it) - Surface Tool - Path layer - Minimapper (to shrink down models) - Lighting modifier (including dynamic lighting) - Effects adder (for sparkles, fire, and maybe even custom effects) - Terrain manipulator (for voxel terrain) - Eyedropper (copy part styles) - Advanced selection functions - Body* adders (bodyPosition, bodyGyro, etc.)
Questionable plugins: insert plugin, scripting plugin (I think crazyman32 is working on an online scripting interface), geometry makers (cylinders, spheres, cones)
I'll probably get around to explaining how to make plugins for this in a short while. If you look at a simple plugin like "Anchor" or "Triangle", you'll probably be able to figure it out, though.
Thanks for reading. If you have suggestions which aren't mentioned on this post, feel free to let me know (post them on this thread--I'll monitor it). I understand the move, rotate, and resize modes are a little buggy. I do plan to rewrite them at some point.
Happy Building! -blobbyblob |

| I love it! Aside from a few minor glitches, this tool is better than v3! |

| Currently, terrain plugin doesn't work with undo. Also, a surface plugin is desperately needed. Fix this, blobbyblob! |

Once again a Build Version outstands all the other tools.

@Zonaya Oh, shoot. For real? I definitely have to fix that! D:
I did all my testing in studio, so I didn't notice that. |

How I get it to work as a plugin? I know the command bar does it.

Please make it work. It seems to be broken when ever I use it. Why is that? |

@Inzerus The tool works. I just used it. Just make sure you read the README file and follow it. There are just two command bar commands you need to use, and you'll have it working. |

Blobbyblob. Ok thanks. I am glad you made a plugin version and an online build version too. Can you make the older tools a plugin version for people who got used to the older version?
Now I can upgrade the game I got with better and more realistic mountains. |

Can you make a video how to use build v4? It doesn't really make since to me. |

How do you get build v4 to work because "README" does not make any since so far... Which is making me quite angry over knowing how to use build v3 was simple. But this not simple. |

BLOBBY I FIGURIED IT OUT! THANK YOU! You half to use this line people.
"assert(loadstring(workspace["Build v4"].InitLoad.Source))();loadstring(game.Lighting["Build v4"].Buildv4Plugin.Source)();"
Then paste it into the command bar
After you put in Build V4! |
