I noticed the same joke being repeated over and over again. The "Valve can't count to 3" joke. I think that valve decides not to release sequels to their popular franchises because the term "sequel" kind of leaves a bad taste in people's mouths.

Most companies try to get as many games as possible out of their cash cow and pretty much ruin what a sequel is supposed to be. With pretty much every valve game, it's typically better than the last and just as innovative.

So my guess is that they're either done with the HL franchise or their just finding ways to make their sequels new and exciting and to make the new game better than the last.

except that Half-Life is the only series they set up for a sequel.

Your logic makes no sense. They have already released at least one sequel for each of their franchises. But even if this was correct it's completely unnecessary. Tons of companies don't wait over 5 years to release a new game and the sequel they produce is even better then the original.

HL3 would have such ridiculous expectations they could'nt possibly meet, it's better that they just never make it.

are half-life 2 episodes 1 and 2 expandalones? if so you could technically consider them separate games

When did I say they didn't release one for each franchise? I just said Valve rarely releases a game for their most popular franchises because they look for a way to improve the sequel from the previous game.

Never did I say that companies wait that long either. I said most companies just try to make as many games as possible within a short span of time, usually getting worse as it goes along. This doesn't always apply though, as some companies do this and make good sequels.

"Why valve doesn't release sequels to their games."

L4D2 was released 1 year after L4D.

I don't care about half life or counter strike.
I want there to be a L4D3!
