I've slimmed it down to three things. I'm not going to change the Motherboard, Processor etc. I have a Gateway GT5228. Here's the parts I'm changing:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium $100- Used to have: Windows XP Home Premium
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD6450 2GB DDR3 $52.90- Used to have: NVIDIA GeForce 6100- Selling for $30-$40 dollars
RAM: Skyline Engineering 2 GB DDR2 PC2-5300 667 MHz Dimm Memory 240-Pin to go with my 2GB Built In- Will still have: 2GB DDR2 RAM Stick.
Good?

@cat
You do realise that a DDR2 mobo will not support DDR3 RAM? And as OP already said he will not be upgrading mobo there's no point in suggesting it. |

| I dearly do not recommend mixing RAM from different batches and providors, also, i think you need to upgrade your PSU. |

@Thereal What happens if you mix the RAM? I think I'll stay with my PSU, thanks for asking.

Mixing RAM could lead to number of things, not passing POST to random BSODs, your RAM sticks are also of different speeds, for the love of god check that they atleast use the same voltage.
Also, have fun with your hard locks if you decide to stick with the 300W PSU. |
