Hell to the yes. I'm going to chip it later for about 250$, +50hp and 30tq+ at the flywheel, so 275hp, 285 tq or so. I'm also buying new Pilot Sport A/V's for it. |

I got my license in May of 2012, I don't have my own car yet but I drive a 2007 Chrysler Sebring, and occasionally a 2010 GMC Sierra.

Nice, what car are you planning to buy? Living in Nebraska, I needed a car that could handle the winter as well. Otherwise I would of bought a really nice Miata and tracked it. |

I'm looking to buy a 1975 Chevy truck to tune up and drag race because my Dad drag races, I've raced the GMC before but I want my own car to race.

I'm currently driving a 2000 Ford F-150. Nothing special. It's really reliable. Only one or two breakdowns in using it for nearly fourteen years.

Cool. I haven't gotten a chance to take my Audi to the drag strip yet but hopefully sometime soon. Racing a GMC truck must be interesting to say the least lol

It's pretty interesting that's for sure, my Dad's car goes about 11.30's on the 1/4 Mile drag strip, meanwhile the truck as I pushed the gas to the floor went about 17.73 on it's fastest run.

50 miles approx. at Mid America (Omaha-Council Bluffs). People street race in my town because we don't have a drag strip

Just curious, why a 75 chevy truck? Seems like an odd pick for a drag car.

I've watched some NHRA but I prefer fast street cars. I feel it's harder to maintain a good balance on a street car than making a tubed drag car.

That's true, I mostly enjoy the sportsman division which races on Fridays & Saturdays during the NHRA weekend, it's pretty good racing.

Best cheap drag car in my opinion is a swapped e36 m3 with a 2jz or a swapped 240sx with 2jz. 800 whp on stock internals can get you into the high 8's or low 9's with less than 20k invested.

Uh huh, I was looking at spending roughly around 17-20k on the engines, tires and some of the stock parts to tune up, I want to race in the States soon enough considering I'm from Canada most of that money would going towards a truck to haul it and a trailer.

I'm telling you, 2jz is the way to go for cheap drag motors...it just costs too much to build up a N/A motor.
