My heart pains have gone down a bit, so I'll give it a go. Everything here is as relating to this thread. http://www.roblox.com/Forum/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=106542609
This is an explanation on the ISRPs commonly done on Roblox that have been actively derived from the ones that started about two years ago on this forum. Those who have made their own argument of the 'general term' that I myself brought up, need not read. -------------------------------------------------------- Okay so a lot of people seemed to think an ISRP was simply a one on one roleplaying session. That is not so, that is simlpy a one on one roleplaying session. An ISRP has no limitation like that. It can have a one on one thread. It can have several one on one threads that put everyone in the same universe, or it can have one thread with several people taking part in it. It is not limited in such a way.
Next, I commonly see Choice Roleplays and Dungeon Crawler roleplays titled as 'ISRP', which since I just named them- they obviously are not. HOWEVER. An ISRP is simply a combining of those two roleplaying types with a twist put on it.
The first twist is that the Dungeon Crawler aspect is not related to any kind of dice-method or any traditional D&D aspects other than that of one person is the dungeon master, and the rest are the players.
The second twist is that of the choice roleplay aspects. There are no ABCD lists wit options. The choice is yours to independently in order to give yourself 100% control over your character.
The third twist is also based on the choice roleplay aspects. When you'd make a choice in these, you'd first have a section of events read to you, and you'd make a choice, then see a result. The difference here is that the story introduces itself, you then make a choice, and rather than just seeing a result YOU get to write the story, and the story writes itself around your actions, and the way you have written the story yourself.
------------------------------------------------------------
Example of the third twist.
Choice stye first, and then ISRP style.
Choice style-
You awake, groggy and tired in a dark room and you don't remember how you got there. You are completely naked and have nothing on you. There are two doors leading out of the room.
A)Go through the first door B)Go through the second door C)Look for clothes
(And lets say you picked C)
You searched through the room and found some poor man's rags that could work as clothing. (Then it'd present you with the A and B options from your last choice set)
NOW for the ISRP version of the same kind of genre.
The color black faded into a lighter shade of itself as you wake up from an assumably rough night of sleep. Your head felt split with pain and as you examined the bit of the surroundings around you, you recognized nothing. You had no idea how you got here, and you had absolutely nothing on you that could help you. It came to you embarrassment as well when you realized you also had no clothes on. Through the darkness of the room you think you can see two doors leading out of the room, either would be a suitable exit were you to try to escape.
-Then your answer would go something like this
I try to see through the darkness the best I can, looking for some kind of light source to help me see and/or something I could use as clothing.
-then the response would be
You stumble through the darkness, trying your best to observe your surroundings and clearly as you can, which proves to be very difficult since your vision is still blurry and shaky. Feeling your way around the objects in the room you find a set of rags folded up on a wooden table. No light source to be found however.
-You would then respond
I put the rags on in an attempt to cover myself up, then make my way through the exit closest to me, moving as cautiously as I can as I try to find my way around.
-----------------------------------------------------
For anyone that was actually interested, if there are any questions please let me know, as I MAY have left some things out. I can't tell by glancing however. |

Why must you be the one who defines ISRP?
What kind of authority do you purport to be? |

@Embankments
Because this is the defining of the style of roleplay that was created ON this site and all ISRPs on this that came after it was originally done here, were generally derived from and mimicking the style of said original roleplays.
It is because that this explains the basis for which current-day ones on THIS forum have been creating. |

@Alpha
I don't like to just straight up say it like that, because then people are generally less inclined to listen to me- which is especially important with this specific thread. =P |

A friend of mine made some killer ISRP's. They died of inactivity, though. |

| Even if it's not necessarily an ISRP, people like to use that acronym because nobody wants [CHOICE RP] or [DUNGEON CRAWLER RP] in their title. It stretches the title- and RPs with titles that long will often lose their appeal. |

@Tai
People no longer put "Choice RP"? I remember when I was actively roleplaying you'd see a whole bunch of Choice roleplays with their names including just that. |

I don't see them very often anymore.
In fact, I don't think I see many choice RPs nowadays. |

| it's rare they do, because just putting Choice RP will make people assume its some sort of collab |

| Odd. I remember there used to be so many Choice RPs and Free-form Choice RPs posted up on the forums. They were so much fun. =P |

| they still exist, but there is really no way to tell the difference between them and normal roleplays, which is why most get caught up with inactivity. |

| Aw. I love Choice though. =( That was the whole point of making the ISRP on this forum originally. Was to expand upon the Choice genre and make something new and fresh that you could get more deeply involved into. |
