I have as well.
My nation state is a New York Times democracy.
We are socially progressive, have an extremely strong police force, an extremely strong military, and great soda and furniture industry.
We work prisoners as slaves, and our crime rate is tiny, but we have tons of political freedom and civil rights.
Our economy is in a slump right now, though. |

I go on every week and just sort the issues out.
The Glorious Eastern Empire of Pafghanistan is a colossal, cultured nation, ruled by Emperor Mir II with a fair hand, and renowned for its happy-go-lucky citizens. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 6.442 billion love a good election, and the government gives them plenty of them. Universities tend to be full of students debating the merits of various civil and political rights, while businesses are tightly regulated and the wealthy viewed with suspicion.
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, socially-minded government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Education, Social Welfare, and the Environment. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Mirdonia. The average income tax rate is 95%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising ten-year-olds selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The Republic of The Shadow Brotherhood is a huge, socially progressive nation, remarkable for its barren, inhospitable landscape. Its hard-nosed, intelligent population of 212 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.
The large government juggles the competing demands of Education, Defence, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 20%, but much higher for the wealthy. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Retail, Furniture Restoration, and Door-to-door Insurance Sales industries.
(this part is comical) Graffiti artists spend lengthy periods of time in jail, inter-species marriages are ignored by the government, violently opinionated speakers can be heard preaching their hateful views on every street corner, and eight out of ten children believe hard lemonade gives you cirrhosis of the liver. Crime is well under control, thanks to a well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. The Shadow Brotherhood's national animal is the Vampyroteuthis infernalis, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Krona.
The Shadow Brotherhood is ranked 1,849th in The East Pacific and 53,424th in the world for Most Politically Apathetic Citizens, with 0 Whatever. |

The Republic of Omisoria is a very large, devout nation, notable for its complete lack of prisons. Its compassionate, intelligent population of 109 million enjoy a sensible mix of personal and economic freedoms, while the political process is open and the people's right to vote held sacrosanct.
The medium-sized government juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Religion & Spirituality, and Education. The average income tax rate is 19%, but much higher for the wealthy. A healthy private sector is led by the Gambling, Automobile Manufacturing, and Information Technology industries.
Nudity is frowned upon, Omisoria's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region, military spending is on the increase, and the death penalty has been reintroduced. Crime is relatively low. Omisoria's national animal is the Octopus, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the Osorai. |
