If ROBLOX add a human checker text. If they would just add one post farming would be gone, no more spam bots.

I bet ROBLOX could even lower the flood check time if they did this.

How would this "human checker" work? I don't think a keylogger or something like that would be very effective or make the users trust ROBLOX anymore.

mikeyman10ash, you've never seen a "Gotcha" text box?
It is a picture of text. Robots can't see it because it isn't text, just a picture of it.

Also they can just spam on forum games.
Though this would probably eliminate bots from the picture.

Xiord,

You would need to fill in a box to check if you are human or not, robots cannot see words in pictures.

In doing this no more spambots.

Would this be something you'd have to do every time you post?

Micky, if someone wants to just do "spam farming" without a bot, they are more than welcome to do so. I am more concern with the smart people that use bots.

After a bit more theorycrafting, I've managed to think up a detailed plan as to how it would work.

So we have the captcha box. That box that everyone loves to hate, right? Shorten it to just one short word with no silly effects like twisting or curving.

But to supplement the change, the floodcheck duration should be reduced. The forums cannot be flooded if the bot programs cannot bypass it, correct? It'd allow people to post more fluidly.

My idea of how it works is that after a set value of posts, it pops up. Now, this captcha box would not leave whatsoever until you type the correct letters onscreen. People with certain illness may struggle with this, but the newer captcha technology introduces ways to solve these issues.

The only problem would be that it would not stop bots that visually convert the words on the screen...but nowadays, it's usually just script kiddies and their googled "hacks", so it's rather unlikely. Brute forcers will always be a problem, but it takes YEARS to get a correct combination.

Would this be something you'd have to do every time you post? Yes, that is what a "gotcha".

The captcha would pop up after a certain amount of posts, which I would suggest be around the 10-20 mark.

It's nothing too crazy, but it gives players a bit more freedom.

Also, creating a post/thread would give you a countdown in the bottom corner of how long until the next captcha so people aren't taken by surprise.

And now I'm going to explain why I chose this because I just feel like it:

The problem with typing it after EVERY post/couple of posts would be that the captcha would have to be so short that it'd be one word. And, as we all know, it's very easy to brute-force one-letter combinations.

I also based these ideas off of what the the system can already do. The post count system can supplement the time until the next captcha, a new value only visible to that player alerting them until the next one alongside it and editing the floodcheck aren't beyond reason.

I'm not really a coding wizard, but I understand the potential and limits of the code itself.

I've always been interested in theorycrafting and helping sites create innovative and useful features.

At the end of the day, someone has to do all of this...right? :P

How about after 10 posts in 10 minutes you get that? I really don't want to have to fill in a captcha for every post.
