The amount of USD now gets you a lot in other countries. But their values may be up more so for example you trade in 1 dollar in Canada. And it equals $5 Canadian dollars. Then you trade in like thousands of bucks and claim to be rich there because you have 5x the money. Well they would up the value so it's not exactly the same, so you won't be rich.

Btw, I know $1 USD does not equal $5 Canadian. It was just as an example.

Woot. We can just go to Japan and pretend to be rich by trading in like $20,000 and get $200,000 yen (If I even did that right).

| You're not exactly rich if you do that....I mean considering the money is all based upon inflation which bases itself around the economy. So you're still getting the same value for your money. Nothing's different besides the numbers used. |

That's what I attempted to say in my original post.

| You worded it oddly. Made it sound like someone didn't want you to be rich so they just charged specifically you more for everything. |

That's not really true, Nathan. In Russia, food can be insanely cheap (You can get a jar full of strawberries, for example, for only a couple cents USD, yippee)
On the other hand, Western goods like clothing are twice as expensive.

Yea, I was trying to say that the money just stays the same value. For example, you walk into Japan with like $50,000 USD and trade it for Yen, you think you're gonna buy like a big mansion with 50 acres of property. No, not gonna happen. They would charge the mansion to be about 10 million yen or something.

It's not entirely dependent solely on the money, import taxes for example play a big role.

Also, I'm pretty sure a mansion in Japan would be out of proportion, there's a lot of people on the home islands so the land would be waaay more expensive than a generally unpopulated area like the east coast in the south or in the biggest case, the midwest.
All dependant on the example.

Yes and you can go from one side of the US to the other and find certain things are half the price and other things are doubled.
I generalized the economy part. This is Roblox, I wasn't about to spend the time to go into national economics. |
