Hi, my name is EverythingIsMacabre, also known as “That Forum Simulator Guy” or “The Guy Who Makes Videos With keeltoll3456.”
I’m responsible for producing the actual ‘video’ to be uploaded on YouTube, and I claim ownership of it on my YouTube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/EverythingIsMacabre). My collaborative partner is keeltoll3456, who often spends evenings with me on Skype. We’ve been doing this longer than we’ve been working together on videos. You can say we know each other quite well. But this isn’t the point. My channel is still fairly small. At the moment it only has a little more than 50 subscribers, and they’re all fans who have seen the videos that keeltoll3456 often puts links to in his forum signature. For this reason he gets a lot of credit for the work, but I’m pretty much okay with that. Recently, we had the idea of starting forum simulators after being inspired by the works of another videomaker on a different site we both frequent. Keeltoll collects the posts on ROBLOX Talk, the text to speech voices, and tells me through Skype how we should work them into a video. I just put everything together for him. It’s just something I like to do. However, after we’ve seen the spike in channel activity from hosting these simulators, and witnessed all of the positive feedback being sent back to us and acknowledging the demand for the next version, there are some unsettling effects starting to pop up now that these simulators have inspired so many other forumers who use ROBLOX.
Before I state my case, I would like to clear up that keeltoll and I aren’t claiming that certain aspects “belong” to us. We can both recognize recycled jokes and so can most of the viewers who see these spin-off simulators. The problem is that I feel like our videos are setting some sort of “normal” for everyone else to follow, and I feel a bit guilty for doing so, as if I’ve been giving off the wrong vibes and discouraging other people producing their own things. The issue is specifically the use of saying we “perfected” the thread or forum simulator. That is not the case. There is still much more effort that can be put into these that neither of us on our channel can find the time to do. I leave that up for other users to do for themselves. But they aren’t really breaking any molds. By saying my simulators are “perfect”, it figuratively sets up expectations for other videos to try and outdo my own. While I would love to see that happen, I don’t want people to beat themselves up if they don’t. The bigger problem is the one I’ve already stated. After watching other attempts use the “How ‘bout NO.” reaction video half a dozen times (I’m not even kidding.) always being plastered over the screencap in a cookie cutter frame, I worry that all of these common expectable jokes wear down the uniqueness of a forum simulator. It also idolizes ‘above-and-beyond’ examples like mine even more.
If you are an aspiring videomaker, I have to ask if my work is being considered a gap to cross when it comes to making a project special. I don’t want anything that I’ve made to be thought of as a standard or a “perfection”; I come across as scum to a lot of people that way.
I thank you for reading this and I appreciate any of your feedback. I am thankful for all of the compliments given to keeltoll and I (he forwards all of them onto me), and I promise that with your enthusiasm I will be happy to continue videomaking for a long time to come.

Oh wow, you actually posted this.
You do realize people in this forum don't have a lot of time to read wordwalls like this? It isn't relatively close to the amount of care people give to foruming like in PG.

Keel,
I know, I'm not really adjusted to foruming here. All I do is lurk when you do and check out links when you send them to me. I should really get to know people here better; the way you describe the community to me seems a bit encouraging, but it's nothing like PG. |

It's good to know that you're humble, though. People don't mind if a certain trend keeps getting replayed as long as there is an interesting and refreshing take on it all. Your editing skills allow an opportunity for that.

I am a BIG fan of your forum simulators, but I do believe you are correct
in some of the recent forum simulators I have seen your sort of "things" that I believe have become a standard in making forum simulators
but I really don't believe there is much to stop it, as Newton said, "An object in motion stays in motion," and I am linking that to what has happened because there is really not much of a "force" to stop it.
you shouldn't really worry, though I think that your forum simulator aspects have become a sort of standard, but there is not much to stop it

both of you are so stupid the fact that you're taking advantage of roblox talk and their forumers to build your own videos and claim it as your own just seems so corporate to me. i guess i can put it that way.
youre trying to shrug off all of the compliments off but you still have an enourmous e-peen that you can't contain in your trousers, and its all because of an enhancement that comes from everyone else on roblox acting stupid for you. |

And iHate,
Can't you compare that to things like viral videos on YouTube. Technically they are not producers filming themselves yet they rise in popularity. |

It's still a matter of preference, however. In the original /mlp/ thread simulators and more present variations like ours, using a small crowd to connect to a larger audience still is a great formula for creating quality, if you can use it correctly.

roblox isn't composed of a bunch of unmoderated young adults talking about cartoon pronz, though. roblox is different, its full of crap.
i still cant deny that your videos take crap and make candy out of it though. unfortunately ive been included in both versions, so theres no way to say im not involved.
im all for making funny stuff on the internets, but you don't need to include such kiddery. the same goes for everyone who makes full-blown roblox productions - there shouldn't be deals as big as this thread over it. |

IHate,
Industries are built around a certain focal point, however. I don't plan on monetizing any of my productions (I would be foolhardy to try; I don't own any of it), but I'm aware of certain users who do. |

That still doesn't explain why you're here, however. "for the lulz" isn't an excuse. In theory, you're using the environment ROBLOX provides to get entertainment, preferably by spewing profanities on an online message board, buuuut who can be the judge of that when you're doing it anonymously? |

i'm still coming from the experience of having to deal with all kinds of internet trash who make industry out of nothing; furries for example.
hell, I've had my spats with all kinds of geeky followings. |

@iHate
You've compared ROBLOX to furries and other large fandoms, however. I know that you mean it that way to compare how they make a profit from it, but remember that our channel doesn't have a large following. It's hard to make any sort of gain from it when it's based off of the property of someone else (in this case ROBLOX itself), and how there's no one going to be dropping any money for our work when we would rather do it for free. |

youre missing my point
i meant furries in a way that people make videos (pron, mind you) in their fursuits and are fully able to sell it off online for other people to blow their loads to. if you put a price tag on a roblox video like yours its almost the exact same thing |
