We often think of ourselves as beings that will aspire to do great things. Beings that will not just be inspired and be influenced, but inspire and influence others. This is sometimes a great thing, but other times, a terrible thing.
These were the thoughts that danced in the head of Sergeant Leo. K as he made his way into the launch pod that would launch him into the dreaded arena of the annual Vaktovian Summer Games. It was already a huge honor to be participating in the games, a huge responsibility, but as it was a joy, it was also a death wish. People knew there was only one person who could come out victorious. There was only one person who could bask in the glory of his own actions.
Was it worth it? This thought occurred to him. In the past wars he'd fought over the years, he had done so much for his people, so much to protect and to serve. If he died here, he wanted to be remembered, not just for this, but for everything he had done.
Leo took one more look at the ground below him before emerging into the dusty afternoon of the arena. He looked at his surroundings: aside from his opponents (and possible allies) around him, he noticed that the arena had been designed to look like an abandoned suburban area, littered with old buildings and rusted vegetation. This was not a good place to start.
As all the contestants took in their surroundings and thought heavily, it took people a while to notice the voice of General K. Bektor coming onto the microphone.
"Fighters of Vaktovia! Only your skills and senses will help you in this arena! Use them wisely, for this will dictate whether you will survive, or die.." he explained.
The countdown began. Thirty seconds of agonizing wait. What should have been a short, simple wait, was a slow, terrible time only for contestants to think of hundreds of negative scenarios that could occur.
And then without even a warning, a horn sounded, signalling the start of the Vaktovian Summer Games. Leo was stunned at first, but then he reached into that survivor inside him, the survivor who went through so much training in the past, so much trouble to earn his spot and his rank in the Empire. He was confident, he was determined, he was going to be THE survivor.
With that, Leo ran into the madness, knowing he would be the one to come out on top.
[The End]
Note: This was kind of quickly put together thing, since the deadline isn't very long. IF I do win, the money is going to someone else who DOES have BC. But that isn't really my concern, I just want people to read my story so that I can show what I can do.
Should I have another part? Please do tell if I should. Hope you enjoy! |

i'm trying to figure out how this is relevant to the story.
you're just trying to spark a flamewar so you can horde attention to yourself, don't bother. |

The moment where Leo, realized the warrior within the madness and the slaughter and the blood could've started. Please add that too. The way you put the words, really get you into the story, and you can almost imagine the place and Bektor.

@shred
if you don't have anything to say about the story then don't say anything, seriously, no need to be a jerk.
@unc
Glad you liked it, I'll get into it more once the competition is over. |

Exceptionally written, but the story itself contradicts with the Summer Games this year. It's a 2 v 2 competition, therefore more than one person will survive, and we don't throw the contestants into a huge free-for-all, it's separate matches.

| I wasn't really aiming to follow the exact pattern of the Summer Games, more of my own version of it. (despite the fact that it follows a more hunger games path) |
