This update would allow you to save and load data across multiple games. Lets say I build an RPG. I envision this huge world with many different landscapes and features. But I cant build such a thing in a single place. So I would build the game in several different places. There would be teleports going from game to game, and the data you would like to be saved would travel along with you. So lets say gold was the currency:
In place 1, I gather 100 gold. I teleport to place 2, I still have 100 gold. I earn 300 more gold in place 2 to bring my total gold up to 400. I teleport back to place 1. I have 400 gold.
This would provide for MUCH larger games and it would also encourage people to buy BC. |

That would open up a whole new set of opportunities.

Amazing idea and this would set up a lot of servers, so maybe a different amount of connections to places for different BCs for like BC 5 connections? And for TBC 25? And for OBC 50?

I think in early 2012 they made a blog post wich was supposed to be "universes". It ended up being Mega servers.
Unfortunately from that blog post they never made sending data to different games/servers. |

| One problem, you forgot to mention that people would use this to save their data into other people's games to mess their games up. This feature would only have to apply to the games you own. |

You can only access data from your games, not other people's games. |

Currently, you access data persistence liek this: player:LoadInstance/LoadString/LoadNumber(Instance/String/Number) So maybe to load it from a different place you would just player:LoadInstance/LoadString/LoadNumber(Instance/String/Number, PlaceID) |

Universes was an idea, it got a blog post. If it's happening, this will mean nothing to speed up development - it was discussed a year ago. They've made their minds as to continue it or not.
