| it's funny because even compared to CoD, pokemon is still rather lazily made (or at least it has been until x/y) |

| tell him that pokemon might be lazily made, but comparing anything to COD instantly makes his arguments invalid. well, yes, pokemon is indeed lazily made, but the point is...well there's no point in all this...oh...wel...I'll gtfo now. |

| CoD has barely changed anything besides the maps, guns and slightly the story. pokemon atleast added some new stuff, although it sucked. |

And Pokemon has only changed the maps and pokemon.
As far as I can tell, the stories have been the same for the past few years. (Stop Team x from capturing x pokemon and/or taking over the world, beat all gym leaders and elite 4)
At least CoD has different stories. |

"CoD has different stories." What has actually changed in the stories of CoD? You kill tons of people, learn about some evil plot to take over the world or destroy it or launch WWIII, kill more people, save the world and then kill some more people because you can.
In pokemon, the story is equally unchanged, but pokemon doesn't revolve around the story as much, there are other things to do than fight Team X and stop their "evil" plot. |

Pokemon is the CoD of RPGs, CoD is the Pokemon of FPS's. End of story.
They both rehash the same idea, the story (CoD; WWII and some kind of war never touched upon because it was hidden or in the future. Pokemon: team X wants to damage world for some reason, player becomes a PKMN TRAINER!), and the map. (Pokemon has to have a Mountain/ Volcano, a supernatural temple, a cave area, ect) (CoD has to hive that urban map, and a Nuketown, a boat level) |

I was mainly talking CoD1-BO
Haven't played MW3 or BO2, so cannot speak for them |

@exo
(Only using Treyarch's for obvious reasons)
WaW-pretty much WW2 frontline BO-American CIA agent (who's unknowingly been made a sleeper agent) goes rogue to stop a soviet general with the help of an illusionary Russian WW2 veteran BO2-Stop a charismatic Central American from hijacking the American drone program, while flip-flopping from the 2020s to the 1980s to discover his vengeful goals
All sound pretty varied. At least a lot more than Pokemon.

| ehm, well, aside from WaW, which a had a quite varied story, BO and BO2 were still based on the same idea. Kill tons of people and stop a crazed enemy from ruining the world. Dragovich intended on releasing a deadly chemical on the US, Raoul whatever his name was intended on releasing a virus to hijack the drone fleet and destroy the world. To me, the only thing varying in those games was the setting and the characters. And how come Mason Sr was all in shape and had been un-brainwashed without affecting him between BO and BO2? |

@exo
But pretty much every fast paced action game involves stopping something or someone. It's the details that matter.
And in BO2, he's still slightly insane. (Reznov showing up in the desert, attempting to kill Kravchenko, etc.) |

| It did affect Mason.. in the 2nd 1980's level Mason once again hears his brainwashing despite being "cured" and almost kills Dragovich. |

well, the details do matter. and I had totally forgotten about the desert part, but my point is that the CoD story has changed equally much to Pokemon's. In CoD, you stop some kind of crazed enemy, mostly from something like Russia or some other dictatorship state by killing hundreds of people with the only thing varying is what happens behind all the murder and stuff. In Pokemon, the details do change too. Team X in each generation does have a different goal (Team Aqua&Magma were bent on doing something different from Team Rocket who just wanted world domination, Team Plasma tries to "liberate" pokemon and so on.) The maps in both series are changed, as well as the weapons/Pokemon and so on. |

"And Pokemon has only changed the maps and pokemon"
They changed a bit more than that; There are different moves, battle concepts (double battles, rotation battles, etc.), add ons (minigames, interactions, etc.), and in some cases the story is somewhat complex, like in Black and White and Black and White 2.

everyone itt is a disillusioned idiot, sequels aren't supposed to be insanely different from their prequels. the entire point is to add new maps, weapons, etc and continue the story
although i will agree that pokemon is far more rehash-y than cod |
