People are acting like P2P games are new

Ever since we've been able to make VIP shirts, we've been able to make P2P games. It's essentially just a VIP-only game for people who buy the VIP shirt. This has been made even easier with the addition of game passes and now roblox wants to make it official.

But the moment roblox tries to legitimize something, you all flip bricks and call them out. This is not a new feature, this is a new behavior. This will compliment games in the same way trading complimented limited selling - by legitimizing something that people already did. If this becomes a feature on the main site, roblox can make rules about how to sell a game. This means it won't be possible to scam someone out of a game purchase the way it is now.


Many of you will still say "but if people can already do this, why aren't there many P2P games?". The answer is simple - the P2P model doesn't work on roblox. If you want to make sales, you need publicity. However, on roblox, this is backwards - if you want publicity, you need to make sales. No one is going to purchase a game that they don't know anything about and no one in their right mind is going to put time and effort into a game and then try to sell it as an up-front price. The fact that game passes and VIP shirts were such a massive hit is proof of this.

No one is going anywhere near the front page with a game that costs fifty robux and someone that sells their game to people that haven't played it are obviously more interested in money than user feedback, so you likely wouldn't want to play the game anyway. Please stop pretending that this update is going to dramatically affect the way games work.

I should have elaborated on the thought behind this statement for more clarity. Currently it may sound like I'm saying you need to sell your game upfront and get publicity later. That's misleading because, when I say "sale", I mean "free". If you want publicity on roblox, your game needs to be free. No one will buy a game that isn't popular, and free games are the only popular games.

As are VIP shirts, but I'm not talking about what they're generally used for - I'm talking about what they can be used for. Game passes are literally a way of selling anything in a game - including the ability to play that game. The point I'm trying to make is that you CAN sell a game through game passes, the same way you CAN make your game legitimate P2P.

P2P games is a very good idea, and I've been waiting for it forever. The thing is, I wonder how it will be "accepted" as a lot of games are ROBLOX are copied and it makes it harder to be sure if you're actually paying for the game it shows on the thumbnail/title. Overall, I've been wanting this for a long time for ROBLOX as, for example, Steam Games flourish very well with this idea in play. I just hope, since most of ROBLOX is under a certain age, that they can understand, and accept, that this is how playing games should really be. Plus, you still have those free games, and most likely it will be a BC-only feature so it won't apply to everyone.
