Basically, an individual sends countinuous "hits" to a specific port, flooding the path and effectively shutting down the server.
Not much you can do as a defence, but depending on the quality of the firewall and the network Admin, you may be able to filter out the attac

| DoS isn't what's happening here. DoS increases ping time with the intent of slowing a website down to an unusable state. This error is caused by someone releasing bad code. |

| DoS and DDoS are not exactly the same. DDoS is done differently and it is more efficient. |

DDOS attacks aren't to steal acc data
and acc data is encrypted too, so even if they get that, it'd take forever for them to decrypt it |

If this isn't a trollpost you can just use mitigation software and iptables to filter it easily.
