Given the ability to create semi-transparent GUIs, would it be possible to create a 3D viewing experience using anaglyph glasses (the red and blue acetate ones)?
All that this would require is rapid switching of camera position synchronously with flashing guis.
So it toggles rapidly between
Red Gui : vision from the left Blue gui : vision from the right
Plausible? |

Perhaps make only GUIs 3d with other GUIs, not parts. Parts would just need lots of raycasting and be really annoying.
Why do you need to change the camera position?
But that would be really cool. |

Sorry, let me elaborate. I mean view a standard roblox game with 3d glasses. Superimpose alternating blue and red screens over the window.
One problem that I can see is maintaining normal camera movements while twitching
You move the camera position to give left- and right-eye views. |

Oh I get what you mean. I don't think it would work though, not even if the camera wasn't buggy at all. |

| So far, I have an epilepsy-inducing red/blue flicker. Refresh rate could be better... |

I just tried it lol
Unless the refreshRate is higher than your eyes can notice, I don't think it will work. |

| What if we used billboardGui and red and cyan squares that will get bigger as you move further away? |

| Because its the normal way to do 3d without your epileptic camera shaking. |

| Why not billboardGui? It changes size and position as you move away from it right? It's perfect! |

Why not just make transparent red/blue pieces shifted over to the side perpendicular to the camera's direction?
Local, of course. |

Wait, can't we try to make ROBLOX work with this software called TriDef-3D? Google it. |

I think that some people are misunderstanding how anaglyph 3d works.
Lets say I superimpose a semi-transparent red rectangle over the entire screen.
The eye covered by the red film can see the red-ish tinted world it, but the eye covered by the cyan film cannot. The opposite applies when the rectangle is cyan. Therefore, the game is showing an image only viewed by one eye.
By moving the camera, different images can be created for each eye. Since each eye can be individually "broadcast" to, a pair of images can be created, one sent to each eye. The images should be from slightly different camera positions, as your eyes are in slightly different places.
Ideally, the place would include a 3D calibration routine, where you fine-tune the colours of the GUIs, such that to each eye, one color is opaque, and the other transparent. Can anyone think of the best way of determining said colours?
Has anyone made a Color picker for Color3s? (with transparency) |

| I still say just use billboardGuis. No need for any calculations at all for most things. |

| I don't really understand how you intend to use them. All that my method entails is a vibrating camera, which isn't much math. |

With billboardGui if you move away from the part the GUIs get bigger right? So the red and cyan will move further apart as you get further away which is what the normal red&cyan 3d things do without even using any scripts.
The shaky camera thing won't work because the image won't be shown fast enough for you to think it's the same image at the same time. |
