I'm not a fan of the "Top Earning" idea. Not only does it center on popularity just as much as the previous system, it would be the first time the front page would display BC favoritism (since nonBC can't sell as many things), and it wouldn't encourage classic/high quality places that don't "sell out" like some of the more recent ones.
I propose, rather than basing the front page on how much money people spend on a place, base it on how long people spend ingame, on average, in the past 24 hours. It's a similar concept--people are less likely to stay a while in a low-quality place--but it also doesn't matter whether the place is new or old, and more importantly it isn't based on popularity. A game with three people who spend a long time inside admiring would have just as high a chance to front-page as a game with 30,000 people who come and go within five minutes.
I think, along with incorporating the rating system, this could go a long way in making the front page look better. Support? |

| @Nuke: That's also sort of true of the current system, and any potential system. Besides, the idling system should keep that in check. |

Regarding NuclearBlender's comment:
And remember, it's extremely easier to add a weight to the system based off number of users. So 10 users that play for 10 hours is much less after being weighted than 100 users at 10 hours.

Well yea, you don't weight it super heavy, and you have the weight on an exponential decline (so that the weight difference from 1~100 players is much larger than from 100~200)

that way large player counts don't make a game unbeatibly heavy in the system, while games with 50 people struggle to gain momentum. I think it is important to keep the number of players in mind through, because a truly good game will bring in people, and that's valuable to know.
