I decided to get Skyrim because of how popular it is. Any tips you guys have?
Side note: I'm currently investing my time on Fallout 3 and I was wondering if I should save up caps for the Rock-It Launcher.

Oblivion is indeed better, but get Skyrim, especially if you can mod it.

Except this thread isn't about LoL or Club Penguin, it's about Skyrim and Fallout 3.

| Don't listen to Pkmn, Skyrim is better than Oblivion. They both need modding to be great, but modding is a MUST for Oblivion simply because of the positively horrible level scaling. |

Rock-It Launcher is pretty bad unless you're doing Big Guns. Also seriously. Get Oblivion (and Morrowind so you can play Morroblivion - no RNG combat, but you still get the huge world to explore) and add graphical mods. |

| I will say that Morrowind's the best in the series. Also, as I've said hundreds of times before, RNG COMBAT IS HOW RPGS ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK. You may want some graphical mods if you can't stand the dated visuals (although you eventually get used to them), though. |

| I don't mind RNG for damage, but if ~70% of the time you're missing if you're not using magic, it's freaking broken |

| You're missing 70% of the time because your character's not skilled with the weapon he's using. |

look if you're playing a pure melee character, then how are you supposed to earn the money to get the training for the weapon? |

Just practice. You're thinking in terms of mechanics instead of roleplaying. Your level one fighter will naturally have difficulty until he's become skilled at his trade. |

| But if it clearly looks like a weapon hits an enemy, they should at LEAST take 1 HP worth of damage if it was a glancing blow |

"But if it clearly looks like a weapon hits an enemy" It's a traditional RPG combat system, only in real-time. It's not a "twitch" game; when your character swings his weapon at an enemy, the game rolls a d20 in the background and adds modifiers based on you and your enemy's stats and skills to determine whether you hit him and how much damage you do. If you can't understand that concept, RPGs aren't for you. |

traditional RPG combat DOESN'T translate well to real-time it should at least say "hey, you have x percent chance to hit with this weapon" on the weapon description |

"traditional RPG combat DOESN'T translate well to real-time" Um Every pre-Mass Effect Bioware title ever? The only difference with Morrowind is that it's not divided into rounds.
"it should at least say "hey, you have x percent chance to hit with this weapon" on the weapon description" So every single enemy in the game has an equal chance of dodging an attack with that weapon? k |
