They are 2 items, we all know that. But LMaD debates about this all the time. You guys are comparing a car with a football signed by RG3. They both have value, but the value is determined by the consumer. Some people would chose RS over illumina, but others wouldn't. There is a vast majority of players that consider illumina over RS, so that makes illumina > rs, right? wrong. That isn't how the economy works.
Some consumers want it more, thus making them pay more. Others would pay less. The items have a set price range in which they sell/trade in. This is what makes Darkheart>Void Star. You must also take in account how many of the said item exists. These two are similar in price and amount and that is what makes them debatable.
These items have a price range, not a price. With a playerbase such as our own, items don't have prices. They have rages. Now please, stop this argument that leads nowhere.
TL;DR: Illumina and RS don't have prices, they have a price range. |

| I consider myself an onlooker, not the edgy common lmader. |

I am going to add to this post;
How items 'gain' value.
One item gains 'value' when a famous player says so, therefor the vast majority will agree with him/her. That is one way, another is when an item gets 'projected', meaning all the low prices have been bought. So the item does not gain value in most players eyes, but it really does. When players start selling it again, the price goes down but not to its original price range, and the item is forgotten. That is how a successful projection works.
Then comes the most common one; The lower sales get bought due to high demand, thus raising the price range. This is similar to the projection in ways, but this is unintentional. With the new owners of the item in, they aren't bored of it quite yet and they may hold on to it.
I would like to stop myself here before I end up writing an essay on this, but most people here will get the picture out of those two paragraphs. |
