| That's not very helpful to the people trying to learn, they would be much more inclined to read a wiki post instead of a thread. |

That's what I did. If they want to learn how to make a working function, I gave them a wiki link. |

I never said you didn't do anything. I was just implying that people are going to read the wiki instead of a thread because the wiki has more information and it's more flexible. |
