| You need to understand that the Aztecs would have never defeated the Spanish Empire. |

| Or In, if the small pox didn't kill them and if some(very little) survived, suspicion would grow and people would wonder where is the Spanish group we sent, they would of killed them off. Or the disease would of. |

@Gasleaks: The "Many Worlds" Theory applies in an conversation like this, in the many worlds theory, in other universes, Aztecs would of won, Germans would of won, Logical Thinking would be accepted by everyone, everyone would have a different outcome. Lets say I had to chose between two cereal brands, I would create two universes. one where I ate the first, and the other, the second.
In a different universe if the Aztecs had won, there would be several outcomes. My favorite being that if they survived the disease, more Spaniards would come looking for Cortez wondering where he went and finish off the last of them. |

| Exactly. They'd send another expedition and finish them off. That's not a victory, lol. |

Okay so assuming the Aztecs miraculously defeat the Spanish ultimately, like defeat them completely and manage to hold on to their land.
Derp, I don't know. They were a VERY primitive society, I'm not quite sure, but were any Aztec societies more advanced than Horticultural? I'm not even sure most past Pastoral.
They would've needed to modernize themselves, whether they would become a world power or not is unclear. What resources did they have access to? Would they have remained relatively isolated or engaged in over-seas trade? |

| To utterly defeat the Spanish they'd need to get technology capable of sailing across the Atlantic and landing troops in Iberia, then defeating the other 90% of their military lol |

| Impossible. If the Spanish didn't kill them, then the Old World diseases will. |
