Gorgy Zhukov - Deputy Supreme commander of the Red Army. Accomplishments: Never lost a battle, Saved Moscow in 1941, Saved Leningrad in 1941, Won the Largest Tank Battle Ever Fought At Kursk, Destroyed the only stable army group the Wehrmacht had at Bagration and more.
Dwight Eisenhower - Supreme Commander of the Western Allies Accomplishments:
Planned Normandy, Pushed Through occupied France at 'lightning' speed, Foreseen the threat at the battle of the bulge and more. ------------------ Due to my heritage I know more about the Russian Marshal then I know about Eisenhower so feel free to add more of his accomplishments.

| Eisenhower also served in the counterattack against North Korea before Truman fired him. |

Zhukov
By the time D-day was planned, the outcome of the war was known, Germany was losing, and losing pretty bad. |

| Besides the reason Eisenhower went so fast was because he was faced with very little resistance. |

Erwin Rommel was a corps commander. He was a genius yes. He had military instinct in his veins. But, von Manstein, Wather Model and Guderian easily surpass him on the German side. Manstein was the greatest German tactician of the war. He stands out head and shoulders above every other German Commander.
On the Russian side Zhukov, Rokossovky and Kurn are better then Rommel.
On the American side there are none. American Generals are idiots.
On the British Side Montgomery was the better planner then rommel. |

| @Dan maybe because, 80% of the Germans were in the east? That could have something too do with it. |

"On the American side there are none. American Generals are idiots."
Because Omar Bradley, Douglas MacArthur, and George S. Patton were totally idiotic.
And I just realized I confused Eisenhower with Douglas. Derp. |

Douglas MacAruther is one of the few American Geniuses.
Omar Bradley's legacy lies at the battle of the bulge. Most of the credit for that can go to the British Counterpart Montgomery.
Patton was a fiery foe who was off his rocker. He wanted to invade the Soviet Union directly after the war. That is not a sign of great military instinct. Just the logistics would have killed is idea. |

| Plus one could note that without Bagration the Germans could have reinforced Normandy. |

| No. The Germans were expecting a attack in Beligum and Hit-- didn't want to send in his panzer reserves. So it wasn't reinforced. |

| Then what's with all of these fortifications the history buffs say Germany established across the coast? |

| Rommel rebuilt the Atlantic wall. But, Reserves were not sent to Normandy. |
