they've literally revolutionized nothing

i dare you to name one thing they've revolutionized other than platformers (which they hardly revolutionized)

Legend of Zelda

They were the first people to make 3d work.

Also, their consoles. Appeasing the casual market if what they may be doing, but they're pioneers, paving the path clear for others to take

I don't mean that way, I mean the fact that they managed to create the Z-targeting system, changing alot of the ways of battle and how 3d cameras work, atleast on a fundamental level

How is target locking revolutionary? It casualizes game and removes all skill required.

Play legend of zelda again and tell me that

Target locking is necessary on much more complex skill based melee systems

it's essentially punch out in a free arena

Or have you played too many shooters to remember that things didn't always have guns?

"Power Glove"

Fair enough I suppose, but it wasn't exactly revolutionary. Being the first isn't exactly revolutionizing it.

If you say being the first isn't revolutionary, WHY IN THE WORLD DID YOU SAY MAZE WORLD 3D.

Atari CX-42

I have played the series. It entirely ruins any skill required and actually over complexes things to the point where the game can be unplayable at times.

Because it actually made it work. The power glove wasn't a large success at all, thus didn't revolutionize it.

Dude, revolutionizing something does not mean to perfect the craft, it's to add something new or break the fundamentals establishing new roots. I would state Resident Evil 4 as an example.

they haven't made anything truly innovative in at least 15 years.

If it doesn't mean to perfect it, then RE4 is not revolutionary as it is not the first survival horror?

Well, legend of zelda's systems laid a bit of the groundwork for dark/demon souls' mechanics. Though I don't see how it over complicates things (I'm going with the ocarina of time game here, because that's the first appearance of the Z-targeting system.)

Atari 2600

Year is uncertain as I cannot find much information on it, sadly

Know I feel like you're stating things I'm not implying in my posts. I'm stating Resident Evil 4 because it broke away from the first three games' mechanics, and established a whole new set of rules on its own- rules that are being used to this day with the dawn of 3rd person shooters.

"Well, legend of zelda's systems laid a bit of the groundwork for dark/demon souls' mechanics. Though I don't see how it over complicates things"

And I oppose Dark/Demon's Souls mechanics as they make the game insanely easy and it could have been implemented in a much better way.

And perhaps over complicate wasn't the correct phrase. An example of what I mean is that when locking onto an enemy, it can cause your camera to absolutely flip out. (e.g. Phantom Ganon, OoT)

Or perhaps you are not being clear enough on what you are trying to say?
Also what exactly did they bring to the table that modern 3rd Person shooters still use?
