Ignorance, intolerance, and greed are the three roots of all evil. Think about it, all crimes can boil down to those three things. "Money is the root of all evil" and yet we seem to hoard it in banks, wealthy people are almost silently encouraged to hoard it and are allowed to.
We could create a world free of evil, just remove those three things, ignorance can be solved through educating people, finding ways to make people WANT to know things, want to be educated.
Intolerance can be solved through teaching people to accept everyone, even of different backgrounds and beliefs.
Greed can be solved through getting rid of systems that don't reward compassion or sharing but reward greed and separation. Everything isn't a competition to see who can buy the shiniest car, or the biggest house.
Violence, violence stems through these, people think violence is the way of life, it is a horrible way to live. Constantly looking over your shoulder, can't trust anyone to not hurt you for what you own. I support global demilitarization, weapons should be destroyed, no need for them in this day and age.
THINK OF IT, a world free of evil, a world where every man was compassionate and kind, a world of freedom and beauty. Not a system where greedy men destroy the Earth for its bounty, just to profit off of it. |

the world's problems are not a product of man's sins, it is a product of his virtues.
This morality of self sacrifice and altruism is what is destroying the world.

@Pepper0 So, you're basically saying people who promoted charity and compassion were wrong and are the reason the world is in the state it's in? |

@Pepper0 Well, actually, it's pretty much the belief that dissatisfaction comes from always wanting more, never being satisfied. It was started by someone who sought the secret to happiness, and he found it. It's the Noble Eightfold path which is:
1. Right view 2. Right intention 3. Right speech 4. Right action 5. Right livelihood 6. Right effort 7. Right mindfulness 8. Right concentration

@Silee I'm not proposing we shoot anyone who disagrees, we provide them with the tools necessary to reach happiness, we remove ignorance, intolerance, and greed out of our society, merely bad habits we've gotten into and replace them with good habits. |

| We aren't an evil species by nature, many have chosen to be altruistic and kind and have reached true happiness that way. |

I've always found dissatisfaction to be found in self-sacrifice. its displeasing and self destructive.
The supreme and ruling values of a man's life are as follows
Reason
Purpose
Self esteem
These three values imply and require all of the real virtues of man:
Rationality
Independence
Integrity
Honesty
Justice
Productiveness
Pride

Okay, I'll give my view on each of these individually:
Rationality: I agree with this one, it's good to be rational, but if you're too rational you lose your sense of empathy and become a machine of a man, no feelings, no care.
Independence: This has a good idea behind it, but we work together as humans, doctors and scientists work so hard to bring us amazing advances, no man is an island.
Integrity: I agree with this
Honesty: I agree with this, but being too honest can lead to hurt feelings and hate.
Justice: Yes, it's good to promote justice, but I feel the justice system looks at men and women as criminals, not thinking feeling human beings who went down the wrong path and a lot of the time are genuinely remorseful for their actions.
Productiveness: Yes, hard-work is a part of life, it's a good quality. Everyone has something great to offer the world
Pride: It's good to have self-esteem, but pride can lead to arrogance, the belief that you're free from error and mistakes.

Rationality: This is the recognition of the fact existence exists. That nothing can alter the truth and nothing can take precedence over that act of perceiving it which is thinking. That reason is an absolute that permits no compromise. That the alleged shortcut to knowledge, which is faith, is only a short-circuit destroying the mind.
Independence: This is the recognition of the fact that yours is the responsibility of judgement and nothing can help you escape it. No substitute can do your thinking as no pinch-hitter can live your life. The violist form of self abasement and self destruction is the subordination of your mind to the mind of another.
Integrity: This is the recognition of the fact that you cannot fake your consciousness just as honesty is the recognition of the fact that you cannot fake existence. That man is an indivisible entity, an integrated unit of two attributes of matter and consciousness and that he may permit no breach between body and mind, between action and thought, between his life and his convictions. He may not sacrifice his convictions to the wishes of others, be it the whole of man kind shouting pleads or threats against him.
Justice: This is the recognition of the fact that you cannot fake the character of men, as you cannot fake the character of nature. That every man must be judged for what he is and treated accordingly. The just is not the pay for a higher price for a rusty chunk of scram than a piece of shinning metal, so you do not value a rot over a hero.
Productiveness: This is your acceptance of morality. Its your recognition of the fact that you choose to live. That productive work is the process by which man's consciousness controls his existence, a constant process of acquiring knowledge and shaping matter to fit one's purpose, of translating an idea into physical form, of remaking the earth in the image of one's values. That all work is creative work if done by a thinking mind.
Pride: This is the recognition of the fact that you are your own highest value, and like all of man's values it has to be earned. That of any achievements open to you, the one that makes all others possible is the creation of your own character. That your character, your actions, your desires, your emotions, are the products and premises held by your mind. That as man must produce the physical values he needs to sustain his life, so he must acquire the values of character that make his life worth sustaining. That as a man is a being of self made wealth, so he is a being of self made soul. |
