Microsoft is definitely going out of the game.

Nintendo will either drop out of the gaming industry or be sold as a game maker.

Sony will probably get a few new rivals.

Mobile gaming will slowly take over with around a 66% Mobile, 20% PC and 14% console remnants split.

I doubt consoles will become upgradeable though. It seems like it would cost too much for them and lower their own profits. Plus it would make consoles entirely redundant, which they slowly are becoming on their own.

next gen console hardware are pretty much just PCs. I bet that Sony and MS are going to keep them for the next 10 years and upgrade them with new parts every year.

Subsidised isn't the right word. Subsided is probably closer or decline.
And the point of consoles is that they are not upgraded, so no that will not happen.

The console announcements were disappointing, as there is no major development from last gen, compare PS1 to PS2 and PS2 to PS3

Nintendo is still going strong in the handheld industry. That's what I believe is the future of Nintendo.

~EarthBound is the best game ever~

PC gaming gains popularity to the extent that it's common knowledge that you can do such a thing. At some point in time, it could overtake consoles.

Nintendo is downgraded to only developing handheld consoles and games.

Microsoft continues on, but at the price of catering to the Kinect and social media crowds rather than the gaming crowd.

Sony gains popularity in Japan after Nintendo leaves the console market. However, Sony loses a majority of it's fans in NA and EU due to the appeal of PC gaming.

Phone and tablet gaming reigns as king.

Actually I can see this happening.

If it doesn't, Microsoft would go bankrupt as Windows is immensely losing popularity and Microsoft Office has free alternatives. (OpenOffice/Libre Office)

The 3DS is still very strong in Japan.

I could see Nintendo staying, but no way will Mircrosoft will if the Xbox One rumours are true.

microsoft is not going anywhere in the next ten years.

sorry to break it to you, but windows and office are still incredibly widespread and businesses and institutes rely on it as IT is incredibly slow to adopt new products.

"I don't think they will go bankrupt anytime soon."

Most of their products are becoming pointless and redundant.

Windows is going down the toilet. It's only real pro was gaming, and now that's going to Linux.

Windows Phones were never very popular.

Microsoft Office, like I said, has free alternatives.

The Xbox One is not receiving good reactions.

Unless Microsoft entirely focuses on casual games, game publishing and other medias they will not survive long.

who says they have to succeed in order to be around? they have the money to keep them going for at least another ten years even if they keep pumping out bad products. they will fall into irrelevance if they don't come up with something innovative, though. just like Apple in the 90's.

I will only see Linux as a gaming alternative until some decent drivers come, which is a long path for AMD and pretty much never for Nvidia

"You can't expect someone to play hardcore games on a 3 to 4 inch screen, with nothing but touch controls. Mobile will continue increasing in popularity, but this will only be with casual games."

You can hook up mobile devices to HDTVs via micro-HDMI to HDMI

You can hook up controllers via Bluetooth

Not really. Plus it's more budget friendly.

A dedicated gaming console + A laptop/general use/economy PC + A cellphone/mobile device

or

A cellphone/mobile device
