I know that TF2 is a very computer-sensitive game, but I've heard that it can even run on a toaster.
Anyways, I have no idea about PC specs, but my monitor is a Compaq and I have a Compaq CPU. Everytime I play TF2, I hear repeating sound effects and voice clips, character models are either invisible or floating, multi-colored objects are out of place, etc. I know I sound like a noob, but as I said before, I am not an experienced PC gamer at all.

It's a sign you shouldn't play TF2, besides, didn't you just get DOTA?

| Those don't really sound like performance issues you're having, so you may want to try reinstalling. To run the game better, try minimizing your settings (and even playing on the lowest resolution if you have to). |

@ty
That Dota 2 giver dude hasn't accept my friend request yet for some reason, and on his profile it says to send him a FR.
@The
I'll try that. Thanks.

| i remember there was a text file that you could put into the game files that makes the game more configurable. i was able to get me crappy laptop run the game at 90 FPS by turning everything to ultra low but i can't remember where i got the file. i think it was from a Star_ video. |

Lower resolution + low settings + launch codes + configs (optional) = good time for bad PCs

| I've ran TF2 on my toaster until the GPU started to die on the game. |

Yeah, I have NO PROBLEM running TF2 at 300 FPS.
It can run on toasters. Is your computer a Can Opener? |

| My computer can hardly run the game. It works, it just lags like no tomorrow on 95% of the maps. |

What's your CPU and graphics? Laptop or desktop? |

If lowering the settings doesn't work, try doing this
Right click Team Fortress 2 -> Properties -> Set Launch Options -> type in -dxlevel 81 in the box -> click OK
That should lower the graphics significantly and should help you, also, don't forget to remove the -dxlevel 81 after your done playing, or else you won't be able to change your video settings (don't worry, TF2 will still be on DirectX 8) |

-Compaq monitor
If you have a compaq laptop... Throw it away, NOW. It's one of the worst gaming computers, I use to have a CQ56 it was extremely laggy. |

"I know that TF2 is a very computer-sensitive game"
wait what
the source engine is one of the most optimized game engines out there
if it's a desktop, get a graphics card and you're good to go (it will even run on a 5450, which is quite low end and available for around $25. HOWEVER if you plan on playing other games, it may be worth it to just save for a better card like the 6670 or a higher end card, depending on your specs and what they would bottleneck) |

"TF2 is not processor intensive at all. Have you seen the recommended requirements for the game? They are very low."
Depends. My CPU peaks at about 80% on Mann vs Machine, which is the most intensive in Team Fortress 2, and it's a Quad Core 3.3 GHz i5. |
